What is Robotic Surgery?

Robotic surgery is an application of laparoscopic surgery using a high-tech surgical robot.

Da Vinci Robotic Surgery or also known as Robots, is considered to be the most advanced technology globally and including major centers in the United States. In Turkey, there are special in urology, gynecology, general surgery, ENT, chest surgery, and is also used in heart surgery. DaVinci Robotic Technology is the technology that highlights the special privileges offered to the doctor and patient and is one of the most successful surgical methods used in the fight against cancer worldwide today. In short, laparoscopic surgery assisted by the robot has three main features. They work with the principle of imaging and laparoscopic surgery. The image is transferred from inside the patient’s body to the surgeon with the help of the camera. Unlike laparoscopic or mechanical surgery, the latter gives a three-dimensional image, and camera control is easy to give clear images without vibration of the robot. The surgeon controls the robot’s arms with the help of a console. These robot arms are placed in the patient. Fiberoptic cables in the console, the robot moves to the arms by a small hand movements made by the surgeon and robotic arms connected to them, such as surgical scissors, tissue or needle holder to make the desired movements are provided. Surgical instruments connected to the robotic arms can rotate 540 degrees and move much more than hand movements. In addition, natural shivering in the hands of a person is not reflected in the end of surgical instruments in robotic surgery. In this way, the margin of error is also minimized.

Advantages of Robotic Surgery:

  • Fast return to normal living activities
  • Preservation of aesthetic appearance
  • Less painful
  • Less blood loss
  • Less scar infection
  • Shorter hospitalisation
  • Rapid return of bowel movements after surgery
  • Start of normal food intake in a short time
